Mindfulness Meditation

Need to slow down and live in the moment? Are you living in the hurt of the past or imagining the pain of the future?

With the ever-evolving technology (mobile gadgets and easy access to the internet), people can effortlessly multitask. You can watch your favourite TV show while updating your status on Facebook and keeping an eye on your kids. You can take a selfie while eating at a fancy restaurant with your buddy, post it on Instagram and still find time to plan your office outing this weekend and think about how your upcoming corporate presentation will be like.

In the rush of doing a lot of things at the same time, you may find yourself losing your connection with the present moment—missing out on what you’re doing and how you’re feeling. You can end up being consumed by stress, anxieties, worries and physical pain.

Mindfulness meditation helps you live in the moment, focus on different parts of your body, engage your senses fully and savour each sensation, become aware of your breathing, your unconscious thoughts, feelings and behaviours; giving you greater awareness of the unity of mind and body. You also notice external sensations such as sounds, sight, and touch. But you don’t clasp onto a particular idea, emotion, or sensation, or to get caught in thinking about the past or the future. Once you establish concentration, you get to watch all sensations that come and go in your mind, and discover which mental habits produce a feeling of well-being or suffering and then let go of unpleasant ones.

Mindfulness is a skill designed to help you be in the present moment, and not get so caught up in thoughts and concerns. Most of our stress anxiety is found going over the past or projecting pain in the future. Mindfulness helps to stay present and enjoy this very moment. Mindfulness can help you to be less hard on yourself and reduce second-guessing your own performance in difficult situations, thus improving confidence.

Mindfulness can be combined with Hypnotherapy, or Counselling to make a significant improvement in all aspects of change.

The closest thing that I can relate to being in a hypnotic state is a very relaxing meditation. You are totally aware of what is happening at all times, and when you finish it feels like you have just had the best sleep ever and you are ready to take on the world.
